Nancy Pierce
I have enjoyed photography since childhood when I was given a camera from my
grandparents. It seemed magical to see what the camera saw and how different it
was from my everyday views of the world around me. As I grew up I graduated to
larger cameras and lenses and the magic continued. Traveling and seeing new
places and new thigs helps to heighten my awareness of what is around me.
Capturing the common in uncommon ways is part of my artistic vision. Sometimes
the details are recognizable and sometimes they are abstractions but I like both
ways of approaching photography. I love color and light and the play of shadows.
My art explores those qualities both in the art of photography and in my fiber art. I
strive to focus on seeing the world in new ways using visual and physical texture to
enhance the art experience.
